This is an uberdue (my word for super duper uber overdue) post which is so overdue that Khloe had one tooth that time and now she has four!
On our way to Manila last December, we had a 3-day stop-over in Kuala Lumpur. We stayed at Fraser’s Place which is a fabulous place to stay, with a capital F for FAB! Khloe thinks so too! Here is a view from our hotel room and Khloe enjoying the king size bed and her own cot.
It is just a stone’s throw away from the Suria KLCC and this is a peek of the Petronas from around the corner from our hotel.
So what is the first thing you should do in Kuala Lumpur? Eat, of course! Malaysia, we have heard, has the best food and food tripping is a must. I feel sorry for not taking a lot of photos but it was a real challenge travelling with a baby and carrying a camera. So here is the only food photo we have on food. Shame on us! Madam Kwan is a restaurant in Kuala Lumpur which you should try. They have really good food. Their food is sooooo good that we forgot to take photos and quickly went ahead and gobbled them up. Valid excuse, right!?Â
The next day, we went to the Bird and Butterfly park for Khloe to see the birds and butterflies up close. It reminded me of Singapore’s Zoo. I will not forget this trip after sitting on bird poop while taking photos of the flamingos.
There were also a lot of Koi ponds in the Bird Park and Butterfly Park in Jurong. I missed seeing a lot of these tropical greenery!
We met a really nice taxi driver who took us to Batu Caves for few photo opportunities and waited for us without any additional charge. Kuala Lumpur actually has really nice and hospitable people. Here are a few photos from the Batu Caves. Unfortunately, there were scaffoldings around the statue because it was being cleaned for a big Hindu festival in January. We didn’t dare to climb the stairs otherwise, our legs and back would have ached.
Our next itinerary was Bukit Bintang. The famous market place in Kuala Lumpur. We went for a hunt for cheap camera bodies and lenses. And yes they were really inexpensive compared to Dubai prices but their warranty was only covered in Malaysia. Too bad. So we just went souvenir shopping for ref magnets! I am one of the million people who collect ref magnets when they travel. 🙂 Here are photos we took on our way to Bukit Bintang and of course, Khloe getting psyched up for lunch!
After a tiring half day, we went back to our hotel for an afternoon nap. We spent lazing around the pool that afternoon and waiting for the sun to go down before walking to Petronas for night photos.
It is time for dinner and time to shoot the twin towers during dusk. Here are photos of kids skateboarding across the Suria KLCC and me walking in front of Cartier in slippers. Darn jologs!
The twin towers without any better word is simply magnificent! Hope you like these photos of ours. We went there at the perfect time catching it during daylight and a few photos during early night.
Fish-eye is really a fun travel lens. It gives the less traditional photos. 🙂
Photos of the Petronas – mission accomplished! It was time for a good night’s sleep at our hotel. We just lazed around the next day at the hotel but I really feel uneasy when I see this hotel lift. It tells me not to take that one.
Hope you enjoyed this post as much as I did remembering our few days in Kuala Lumpur. Enjoy your Saturday!
