How many 2020 weddings did we shoot? 2020 was a tough year for most people and businesses and as storytellers of weddings and events, we were not spared. But as we celebrate the new year and erase any memories of the past year, let us also consider the great things 2020 has brought us.
For me, 2020 symbolized resilience and hope. It reminded me that no one knows what will happen and if life seems to be going sweet it, all can turn sour in a second. Many lives were turned upside down – a lot of people lost their jobs, businesses closed down, some lost all their life savings and many lost loved ones. During the lockdown, we all counted the days until a cure or a vaccine will be available. We all asked ourselves if life will go back to normal. Our team shared this video during that time to give us all hope and to remind us of the happy wedding stories we have told.
Then lock down eased down around August and weddings at home were allowed. After all, you cannot stop a union of two souls. The pandemic has taught us that a grand celebration is not required to celebrate a wedding. We have covered home wedding stories and small parties. There were no guests but the love and happiness between the families and couples were there.
From 10 guests to 100, weddings and engagement celebrations slowly became bigger. There are still restrictions like in Dubai, reception venues can only host for 4 hours. But four hours is better than nothing.
We did not shoot as many weddings in 2020 compared to the previous years. We were almost on a brink of closing down too. But with God’s grace, He pulled us through, and we are still here. It doesn’t matter how many weddings or businesses we closed but what matters to us now is that we value every client we work with. Every day was a blessing. We are alive and healthy. We can all chose to feel bad and feel bitter for all the things we have lost. Or we can count all the blessings we received and lessons we have learned. 2020 has taught us that happiness is enjoying the things we already have and cherishing the people in our lives.
