We are scrapping our old tagline “Let us tell your story…” since this has been used by several other photographers. It is the new year so we wanted to rethink our goals and mission – how we will approach “story-telling”.
With an increasing number of photographers and cinematographers wanna-be’s, how do we differentiate ourselves among the rest. Everyone now with a camera can “tell a story”. Shoot a the groom putting the ring on his bride’s finger – that is already telling the story…So our challenge in 2014 is how can we be different?
After sitting long hours of thinking and browsing the net, I came about a workshop by Stillmotion starting this 1st Feb that I’m dying to attend. Their workshop is called Storytelling with Heart. This workshop got me thinking that how and why do we shoot (besides the fact I really really want to attend the workshop and plus I am a big fan of Stillmotion)?
I love reading books – fiction and non-fiction and I admire writers when they explicitly describe situations and illustrate a place or person through words. It is like being there. And whoa! That hit me! We wanted our clients, our couples, our families…the people in our photographs and films to look back at the photos and feel that they were back to that moment – when a groom sees his bride for the first time, when you have all your old friends dance the Macarena, when you take a sip of that vodka before you take the plunge, or when you hold your new baby…These all our powerful moments which makes us feel alive. I am moved when I shoot these kind of emotions and we want everyone who sees our photos and watch our films to feel the same. We want more than just a beautiful posed shot, we want to tell the story with a heart.
“Telling Stories With a Heart” is now our new goal and vision. We want every story to be told beyond JUST images…we want everyone who will see our photos and films to be able to relate and feel what we feel. We want to go deep into the heart of the story and tell each one.
