Summer holiday is officially over and my little Khloe is going to start school next week. We had a test run last year with nursery in which she only attended 2 days a week. Now she will be gone five days a week…which makes me feel the empty nest blues already. I think all moms feel the same way when they send their kids on the first day of school.
So for the meantime, I will reminisce the Summer that was…
unlike most families, we stayed in Dubai and endured Ramadan and the summer heat. We already had a vacation last May to the Philippines and Tokyo so our family budget didn’t permit us to go anywhere. But we had a very productive Dubai summer.
For the whole month of July and early August, Khloe attended swim classes conducted by Active Sports Academy. We had fun especially Khloe making balloon faces, starfish floats and blowing bubbles in the water. I hope she doesn’t forget what she learned.
My parents also visited us over Eid and we had a short getaway in Abu Dhabi. But guess what, we are the lousiest photographers because we forgot to bring our cameras along. So we had to do with our Iphones.
Khloe and Arish also tried ice skating for the first time in Dubai Mall. It was a funny experience for them because they clung to the wall half of the time!
So what did we do on the other days? Well Khloe practiced writing. It might sound boring but being home with our daughter and seeing her progress and being there every step is priceless. Quitting my full time job is probably one of the best decisions in my life. We might not have money to splurge on an out-of-town getaway but enjoying this time with family is worth more than treasure in the world.
How about you? We would love to hear what you did during your summer break. Hope it was fun and reminiscing back to summer drives your school blues away. Well, for me, these photos drives my blues when I look at them…
P.S. The wedding season has kicked off already and we started getting busy and booked again. Thank God for leading us to amazing and kind couples.
